1.4 linear, continuous lines and mark making

Natural earth pigments and coffee with grounds over breakfast.

Coffee stain and pencil looking at Victorian cuff, conveying the softness of the fabric and hang of fabric, side view as if being worn.

I wanted to show the drape and softness of the lace and structured depth of the linear stitching.

Continuous line ,first attempt drawing Victorian cuffs.  I'm naturally left handed but decided to try right handed too.  As you can see I am not a natural with either hand however, I really enjoyed it and will explore this more.

Continuous lines continued, highlighting different details of the cuffs.

Eyes closed  this was so interesting I seem to stay in a safe small area with my Mark making, short marks,  it is very revealing for me ,it has consciously made me aware of my fear and discomfort around drawing.

Coffee cup stain , representing pocket stains on Cobain cardigan.

Oak gall dye pan, ink used for mark making

Avocado stone half used to show structure of the cable on poncho and sumac used as a brush to paint fringing of poncho. Dye, lac (natural dye extract)

Dots and lines , fat marker ,poncho

Fat marker to show the mohair heaviness and matted texture of Cobain cardigan.

Lines and dark mark made with fat black marker to show the burn stain on pocket and general outline shape.

Continuous line , black marker pen.

Continuous line with eyes closed, this was fun and make me laugh nervously.

Cardigan, green pencil and scribbled marker to show discoloration on pocket.

Gathered for mark making.

Texture, dried avocado stone, It was interesting to use as the shape of the avocado lends itself to the cable pattern. I used it to create the outlined shape of the cable and also used to to show the burn mark on the pocket. After experimenting with food waste as dyes I feel it offers me another use as a mark making object and it is opening my eyes to new shapes and unexpected found objects being useful for mark making.

Stain, drip from coffee cup mixed with gum Arabic to make a water-colour,  representing the burn mark on the Cobain cardigan.

Green marker ,looking at fibre texture of mohair cardigan.

Rib lines of cardigan with brown marker.
